Née le 9 octobre 1936 à Neuilly-sur-Seine, Nicole Croisille débute sa carrière artistique comme danseuse à l’Opéra de Paris, avant de se former au mime auprès de Marcel Marceau. Très vite, elle s’oriente vers la musique, se produisant dans les clubs parisiens puis aux États-Unis, notamment à Chicago, où elle enregistre sous le pseudonyme Tuesday Jackson.
La consécration arrive en 1966 grâce au réalisateur Claude Lelouch, qui lui confie l’interprétation de la bande originale du film Un homme et une femme. Le refrain « Da ba da ba da » devient un classique instantané, propulsant Croisille sur la scène internationale. Elle collabore ensuite avec Lelouch sur plusieurs autres films, dont Vivre pour vivre (1967), Les Uns et les Autres (1981) et Itinéraire d’un enfant gâté (1988).

Dans les années 1970, Nicole Croisille s’impose comme une figure majeure de la chanson pop et jazz en France. Ses concerts à L’Olympia en 1976 et 1978 témoignent de son succès grandissant.
